Which social, gestational and mental health aspects are associated to maternal-fetal attachment?

Abstract Objectives: this study aimed to explore a set of factors associated with lower maternal-fetal attachment (MFA) in pregnant women. Methods: is cross-sectional corresponding the second wave cohort population-based sample women South Brazil. The scale (MFAS) was used measure MFA. Bivariate analysis performed using t-test and ANOVA. variables that presented p<0.20 were taken for multivariate analysis, through linear regression, order control possible confounding factors. Results: total 840 included. Pregnant who had MFA means those did not live partner (B=-3.8 [CI95%=-6.0; -1.7]), between first trimester pregnancy (B=-4.3 [CI95%=-5.9; -2.6]), have support from their mother during (B=-2.4 [CI95%=-4.6; -0.2]), depressive symptoms (B=-4.9 [CI95%=-7.4; -2.5]). Conclusions: results showed higher it an adequate network pregnancy, better maternal mental health, advanced pregnancy. Early evaluation effort promote prenatal bond, focusing on psychological emotional aspects are strongly suggested.
